I think one of my favorite things is when a couple plans an engagement session that's packed with personal meaning. That's exactly what Sarah and Andy did.
When we first started talking about their engagement session, Sarah told me that she wanted to have it on her family's farm where they're getting married later this summer. That is an instant win in my book. I love a farm session, and a farm session with that extra layer of meaning is just about as good as it gets in my book.
We'd been enjoying beautiful warm weather for a few weeks when their session was scheduled, but as the evening for their session arrived the weather started to look less and less promising. Instead of the warm, sunny evening we'd hoped for, the forecast showed wind, rain and temps almost 20 degrees colder than what we'd been having. We contemplated postponing right up until the last minute. We decided to go ahead and hope the rain held off for a little while. I am SO glad that we did, because it ended up being a fantastic evening. No amount of cold, wet weather could put a damper on Sarah and Andy's joy. The love and excitement that these two have is palpable. I don't think that either of them had a minute where they weren't beaming from ear to ear.
You would never guess from looking at their smiles and laughter that it was anything but the perfect evening.
Just when I didn't think that it could possibly get better, Sarah had a special request. She wanted to get some pictures in the greenhouses where she grows flowers for her family's garden center. There's one thing that I love and it's shooting in a greenhouse. Add an adorable couple to the mix and I'm completely sold. In between poses, they told me about what's it like to grow hundreds of flowers. Sarah even managed to sneak in a little bit of work while we were in there.
I'm so excited to be working with Sarah and Andy and so thankful to have the privilege of capturing this part of their story. I can't wait until their wedding day later this summer. I know that I'll going to be a wonderful day full of joy and love.
